This grant entitled, “TM/SC-interface-on-a-chip for mechanistic studies of outflow regulation”. This grant will design and exploit a novel 3D outflow tissue platform that models the form and function of the complex draining interfaces found in the human eye. If successful, this platform can be potentially used to accurately screen drugs for Age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

This summer internship involves 3D printing human lung scaffolds that are vascularized with stem cells to create transplantable human lungs. Currently, their scaffolds are demonstrating gas exchange in animal models and aim to be cleared for human trials in under 5 years.
